Tara is an Ashoka Fellow and an internationally recognized, award-winning CEO and Social Entrepreneur working for people with disabilities.
Over the past 17 years, she has been appointed to various non profit and governmental boards, advised non profits, corporate social responsibility programs, social enterprises, government agencies, the European Commission, politicians and philanthropic foundations throughout the US and Europe on how to create sustainable social impact.
In 2013 she began Beyond-Impact which gave me the rare opportunity to help grow and build the Jay and Linda Grunin Foundation from strategy to execution, using her experience to help the Foundation and its partners create the greatest social impact in the Jersey Shore and now globally. In 2015 she Co-Founded the Grunin Center for Law and Social Entrepreneurship at NYU School of Law.
In late 2017, Tara became the CEO of Specialisterne USA, where she is working to get every neurodiverse person who wants a job, the opportunity to obtain a job. She lives in Toms River, NJ with her husband Mark and three amazing children, Eoin, Charlie and Emilia. In her spare time, she is a terrible singer, seamstress, gardener and barber.
Founder and chairman of Specialisterne Foundation and Specialisterne. Thorkil first became involved in autism when his youngest son Lars was diagnosed with infantile autism in 1999. He became active in the Danish Autism Society, eventually leaving his Technical Director position in an IT start-up company to establish Specialisterne in 2003. Thorkil has since become a recognized leader in social entrepreneurship, and was named an Ashoka Fellow in 2009 and a Schwab Foundation Social Entrepreneur in 2012. He is now based in the United States where he is driving the expansion of the Specialisterne model.
Stephanie has been with Specialisterne USA, Inc. for over 3 years. She is the Employment Service Manager. She has over 10 years of experience in education and 20 plus years in the business world. She has a BS in Elementary Education from Chestnut Hill College. Stephanie focused her professional development in the areas of technology and autism. She has over 10 years of experience working with autistic individuals tapping into their unique potential and wealth of skills.
